TPS offers protection to people in the USA who cannot safely go back to their homeland due to conflict, natural disasters or other extraordinary and temporary conditions.

Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) is granted through the President’s power in foreign relations. Under DED, individuals are protected from deportation and can request work authorization.

TPS Afghanistan

TPS Afghanistan ended on July 21, 2025. You can no longer apply for or renew TPS Afghanistan.

TPS Cameroon

Temporary protected status for Cameroon ended on August 4, 2025. You can no longer apply for or renew TPS Cameroon. Learn what this means and how to prepare.

TPS El Salvador

TPS El Salvador

You can no longer apply or re-register for TPS El Salvador. If you have already re-registered, your temporary protected status will be valid through September 9, 2026. Find information for those who already have TPS and get work and travel permit information.

TPS Ethiopia

If you do not have TPS Ethiopia, you can apply now through December 12, 2025. If you are granted temporary protected status, it will be valid through December 12, 2025. Learn if you are eligible and how to apply. Also, find information for those who already have TPS.

TPS Haiti

The 2024 extension and redesignation for TPS Haiti will now expire on the original date of February 3, 2026. You can no longer apply for or renew TPS Haiti. Find information for those who already have TPS and get work and travel permit information.

TPS Honduras

Temporary protected status for Honduras has ended. A recent court decision stopped a temporary extension of TPS Honduras. You can no longer apply for or renew TPS Honduras. A court case may change this again.

DED Hong Kong

DED Hong Kong has been extended for 24 months. It is now effective through February 5, 2027. You do not need to apply for DED Hong Kong to receive its benefits.

DED Lebanon

DED Lebanon is effective through January 25, 2026. You do not need to apply for DED Lebanon to receive benefits. Learn if you are eligible and get work and travel permit information.

TPS Lebanon

You can now apply for TPS Lebanon through May 27, 2026. If you are granted temporary protected status, it will be valid through May 27, 2026. Learn if you are eligible and how to apply.

DED Liberia

DED Liberia is effective through June 30, 2026. You do not need to apply for DED Liberia to receive benefits.

TPS Nepal

Temporary protected status for Nepal ended. On August 20, 2025, a court stopped a temporary extension of TPS Nepal. You can no longer apply for or renew TPS Nepal. Learn what this means and how to prepare.

TPS Nicaragua

Temporary protected status for Nicaragua has ended. A recent court decision stopped a temporary extension of TPS Nicaragua. You can no longer apply for or renew TPS Nicaragua. A court case may change this again.

DED Palestine

Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) for Palestine ended on August 13, 2025. There are no new announcements at this time. If the U.S. government makes further changes, we will share an update here.

TPS Somalia

TPS Sudan

TPS Syria

Temporary protected status for Syria is set to end on November 21, 2025. You can no longer apply for or renew TPS Syria.

TPS Ukraine

You can no longer apply or re-register for TPS Ukraine. If you have already applied or re-registered, your temporary protected status will be valid through October 19, 2026. Find information for those who already have TPS and get work and travel permit information.

TPS Venezuela

The 2023 designation of TPS Venezuela has ended for most people, and the 2021 designation will end on November 7, 2025. There are some exceptions. A court case may change this again.

TPS Yemen
