Вирушаючи на співбесіду
Пошук роботи в США може зайняти деякий час. Біженець ділиться своїм досвідом йти на співбесіду. She talks about working for the first time in the USA.
I’m in the US for just a couple of years so I don’t have that many experiences of going for a job interviews. Whatever I faced was kind of easy for me. Однак, though the job interviews were for easy types of job, the worries in mind on the day before the interviews have never gone.
I know very well that I don’t have to worry about anything because I would not be asked that difficult questions for an entry-level job. But also I worry a lot. The job interview I had recently was too for an easy type of job but I worried a lot the day before. And now I have decided not to worry but I am sure I definitely will worry if I have to go for another interview.
If any immigrant is asked to say about how he feels about the USA, definitely he will explain regarding his job first.
The type of job he has and the money he makes from it will determine how happy the person is in the USA. If I have to tell about myself, my life was so difficult in the USA when I was first here and working as a housekeeper in a hotel.
It got a little better after I started working for a Vitamin company. It again got better as I started work at a large bank. And now I recently had an interview for a job as a teacher. By facing all these what I can say is my life in the US felt very hard when I had a very hard job. But its different now. I mean I’m much happy now. So for now to me the answer to those who want to know “How is your job in the USA?”, my answer would be VERY GOOD. But my life too would be still miserable if I had never looked for a better place to work with good money so I encourage others to also keep changing jobs. And again if I see anything better with more money I will definitely move.
I don’t have certification in any field so I can move to wherever and whatever better place for the entry-level job.
I personally do not have any worries that I have to do whatever job because if I was still back in Nepal, I would still not be working. To talk about the job in the USA it’s not a big surprise to see a doctor changing baby’s diapers to help a mom in maternity. But many counties would still yell at mom for not cleaning the baby. Jobs would be of the same kind everywhere but the way they are carried totally differs in the USA.
If I’m certified in something in the future, I can’t say now how would be the interviews for a more professional job, but till now I don’t have any certifications and I’m satisfied with whom I’m working with, and what I’m doing when working. If I look for the jobs in which I have to use what I studied then it is true that my interview will be a difficult one. Але, since I have not studied anything heavy, I am able to satisfy myself to not want more because I know without more education, I don’t deserve more than that.
Sometimes when we go for a job interview, we are told to describe ourselves and we refugees get very worried.
It’s very clear that we don’t have only good points, we also have some bad. Так, I don’t think it would damage our interview if we speak the truth. The bank where I’m working now too is a very big company with a highly educated management team. I don’t mean to say I have a high profile job, just the company is high profile.
At the time of my interview, there were six people who I should answer. The day was very cold and snowy and I was shaking. It was not because of cold I was shaking but because I was so worried that they may not understand my English. And also the question that they would ask me. Somebody asked me why I was shaking, he wanted to know if it was of the weather outside but when I told him that I was scared to talk to them, they laughed. They started asking me about some personal things like family, where I was from, who else do I have here, д. So my fear was gone. So what I want to say is use honesty.
If I had told them that I was shaking because of the cold they would give me some hot drinks, which could never take away my fear.
A man who has a black leather handbag, black suit with tie, bald head and a bulging stomach in Nepal will definitely tell that the man is a government official. In Nepal, any person can be identified by looking at his dress but it is different here. If someone wants to know where someone works, they must start working in the same company, which will help to know what he does. Your job may give you personality in some countries but here your personality will give you a job.
