How to keep yourself healthy

Staying healthy is very important.

Dedication and practice are important in this process. You cannot be taking in too much sugar every day and sit on a chair for 5-10 hours a day then go to bed and say you are keeping yourself healthy. That does not sound like a healthy practice at all!

There are some eating habits that I have which help me to stay well.

First, every day I take one cup of hot water with a lemon first thing in the morning without taking anything else. I do this daily to help flush the digestive system and rehydrate the body. This also helps me in maintaining a healthy weight and increase metabolism.

You do not have to have a gym membership to keep yourself healthy.

Other than the hot water in the morning, I also have a treadmill in my basement that I use daily. Twenty minutes in the morning before work and thirty minutes after work is my daily goal for the treadmill. I have been using this for last 8 months and I have lost about 16 pounds. The treadmill does not only help me to lose weight, but it helps in heart health. It helps me in cardiovascular work, which improves heart health and lowers risks of high blood pressure. It also helps me in building strong muscles.

There are foods and snacks you can eat to keep yourself healthy.

In America, many people eat junk foods because they might be hungry and cannot wait until they get home. But that cannot be an excuse for not eating healthy.

My favorite snack when I am super hungry and cannot find any favorite healthy food around me is peanuts. Peanuts make me feel full. Peanuts are known to reduce risks of heart disease. They are also a good source of antioxidants. Cucumbers are also my favorite green vegetables. I like eating cucumber and broccoli every day. Cucumbers contain multiple B vitamins. They help in easing the feeling of anxiety and they are a good source of water and fiber. I eat one cucumber almost every day. Broccolis are also good sources of fiber, vitamin K, and C. I like when they are steamed.

I am also one of the people who avoid taking any sugary drink or food. Instead of sugar, I use honey, which is a natural sweet product that does not trigger any health issues. If I make coffee for myself, I add honey instead of sugar.

Do not eat big meals at night before you go to bed.

Also taking heavy meal 2-3 hours before bed is not advisable. I do not eat food after 6 PM. I remember th.e last time I used to eat during late hours, I had a bad reflex that leads to heartburn. But since then, I have been advised by a doctor not to eat food 2-3 hours before bed and that has helped me a lot in getting rid of the reflex that disturbed so much.

Pay attention to your overall eating habits

Though I am not a vegetarian, I try as much as I can to avoid eating red meat. Instead, I eat seafood and chicken. I like fish and shrimp. I like seafood because they are low in fats and cholesterol. They are also high in protein, vitamins and minerals.

Overall, I believe drinking a lot of water is very healthy and can help someone in many ways.
