Stimulus relief for immigrant families

In December 2020, Congress passed the second coronavirus relief package that includes a payment to some people in the USA. This payment is $600 per person (including children). To receive the stimulus payment, you must have a social security number. Unlike the last relief package, mixed status families who have an undocumented family member may still qualify to receive help. Learn more in our COVID-19 How to Get Help page.
USCIS lockbox update
Due to the Covid pandemic, USCIS is having delays in sending receipts for some applications sent to a USCIS lockbox. There may be a four to six-week delay to receive your receipt notice. Here’s what you can do:
  • If you have not filed yet, file your application online or complete and attach this form to the front of your paper application to ask USCIS to alert you by text message or email when your form is received.
  • If you have already filed, you can check the application status on the USCIS website.
