Somali rice

Somali Rice, shared by Nimo Noor, Technology and Advisory Council member.

我们要与所有难民和移民分享欢迎 #ThisIsYourHomeToo 的信息.

2 cups of basmati rice or any long grained rice

1 large onion, finely chopped

Shirts and tanks cost $24. Kids shirts are also available for $15.

2 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Send a visual message of welcome to refugees and immigrants. Many refugees and immigrants feel unwelcome in our country. Our goal is to have US-born individuals across the country wearing these shirts out so that newcomers can read, in their native language, messages of welcome. For newcomers to know there are so many who are grateful to have them as part of their communities. Refugees and immigrants: Welcome #ThisIsYourHomeToo!

½ teaspoon each ground cloves, ground cumin, fenugreek and nutmeg

¼ tsp ground cardamom

From some of the languages most commonly spoken by newcomers in the United States:

2 small tomatoes, chopped
阿拉伯语 | 波斯语 (波斯语) | 法语 | 卡伦 | 尼泊尔语 | 西班牙语 | 斯瓦希里语 | 越南语

Saffron threads

In the near future, we hope to add more languages and an option to find the most common languages spoken in your area.

1 teaspoon minced garlic

This current series comes in perfect time for Welcoming Week.

4 tablespoons of olive oil or subag (ghee)

1 cup of chopped mixed vegetables such as carrot, peas and corn

2 ½ cups of water

Once you receive your shirt, help us get the message out and post on social media with the hashtag:

  10. This project was inspired by a local project started by Andrew Arehart in Nashville, Tennessee. Andrew held a booth at a local library where he had citizens wear Welcome shirts. For the past several years, USAHello’s outreach materials have focused on welcoming newcomers in their own languages. This year, some of our Refugee Technology and Advisory Council members suggested we do a tshirt project to welcome newcomers in their languages and we immediately thought of Andrew’s original project. With thanks and acknowledgement to Andrew.
