Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Lebanon

What is TPS?

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) allows people from certain countries to stay and work in the U.S. if it is not safe for them to return home due to war, disasters, or other emergencies.

Was TPS for Lebanon extended?

Yes. If you have TPS for Lebanon, your protections are automatically extended to November 27, 2026. You do not need to file a new TPS application for this extension if you still meet the TPS requirements.

If your TPS application or TPS-related work permit application was still pending on May 28, 2026, you do not need to apply again. If USCIS approves these applications, your TPS and work permit will be valid through November 27, 2026.

How do I get a work permit?

Work permits are available to people with TPS and are known as an Employment Authorization Document (EAD). It shows employers that you are allowed to work in the USA.

You can apply for work authorization by filing Form I-765 and paying the fee. USCIS says new work permit requests may not be processed before November 27, 2026.

If you already have a Lebanon TPS work permit with category A12 or C19 and an expiration date of May 27, 2026, it is automatically extended through November 27, 2026. You do not need to apply for a new EAD.

What happens when TPS expires?

If you do not have another legal immigration status besides TPS, you will become undocumented and lose your work authorization. If you stay without legal status, you will risk being detained, put in removal proceedings, and deported.
