What is TPS?
Temporary Protected Status (TPS) allows people from certain countries to stay and work in the U.S. if it is not safe for them to return home due to war, disasters, or other emergencies.
Is TPS for Burma (Myanmar) still valid?
Yes, people from Burma (Myanmar) with TPS still have this protection due to a court case.
Separately, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the government can move forward with ending TPS for Haiti and Syria. This ruling will likely affect the court case for TPS Burma (Myanmar).
Can I still work with a TPS Burma (Myanmar) EAD?
USCIS currently lists July 17, 2026, as the expiration date for the TPS-based work permit extension. Legal groups say work authorization should continue while TPS remains valid. This date may change.
