What does this means for people with parole?

- Your parole is still valid until the expiration date.
- Your work permit is still valid.
- Your parole status could still end soon.
- You may be able to apply for re-parole.

How to apply for re-parole
If you have humanitarian parole through Uniting for Ukraine (U4U), you may be able to apply for re-parole to extend your stay. Re-parole requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If approved, you may continue living and working legally in the U.S. for up to two more years.

You may be eligible if you meet the following requirements:
- Were paroled into the U.S. on or after February 11, 2022, through U4U or another Ukrainian parole process
- Are still in the U.S. and have followed all parole conditions (for example: health checks, Selective Service registration, address updates)
- Can show urgent humanitarian reasons or a significant public benefit to stay (such as family unity, medical care, or safety concerns)
Each family member must apply separately, including children. Parents or guardians may submit applications for minors.

When to apply
Apply for re-parole before your current parole expires. USCIS recommends filing at least 6 months early to allow for long processing times (often 8–18 months).

- File Form I-131 online or by mail
- Include proof of your current parole, identity, and your reason for needing to stay
- You can also request a renewal of your work permit (EAD) in the same form
- There is a $1,000 fee, collected only after approval (do not pay when you submit your form)
Helpful tips
- Check that your name, date of birth, and A-number match what appears on your EAD.
- Filing online can reduce delays and mistakes.
- You may apply for re-parole even if you have another application pending, such as asylum.

As of May 28, 2025, a court ruling now requires the U.S. government to resume processing applications for people with humanitarian parole. This includes work permits, asylum, TPS, adjustment of status, and re-parole. Find updates with the Justice Action Center.
